Aval Chakkarai Pongal


As I mentioned in prev. post, made this on Hanumath Jayanthi ...Saw this in Priya's blog . I think most of my friends in blogger world , will surely know about her ...one can get lot of recipes from her blog ... she has posted more than 1000 recipes...


Ingredients needed :
  • Aval - 2 cups
  • Jaggery 1 1/2 cups
  • Water
  • Ghee
  • Cashew & Raisins
  • Elachi powder
Method : 

Wash the aval well and drain the water completely and keep it aside for 15 mins. In a kadai add ghee and fry the cashews and raisins and set aside. Now add jaggery and water and allow it to dissolve well ...and strain for any impurities ...again heat the jaggery in the kadai and once it gets slightly thicker in consistency add elachi powder + aval and mix it well and let it cook for few mins , mash the aval with laddle and once done switch off the gas and add the fried cashews and raisins ...it will look bit soggy ...but once it cools it will be perfect ...
