Ingredients needed :
- Rice - 1 cup
- toor dhall - 1/2 cup
- tomatoes
- Vegetables (beans +carrot+ peas + potato )
- Onions - big
- Tamarind water - little
- salt
For Masala powder :
- Channa dhall (Kadala paruppu)
- urid dhall
- Milagu / pepper
- dhaniya / coriander seeds
- Krambu / cloves
- Coconut
- dried red chillies
- coriander leaves
Dry roast all the above ingredients ....Grind it by adding little water into paste
For temperring :
- Oil
- Mustard
- urid dhal
- hing
- curry leaves
- small onions
- coriander leaves
Method :
Chop onion and vegetables lengthwise and keep it aside (picture 1). In a cooker boil Toordhall + onions + tomatoes and pressure cook it till done (picture 2) in a big kadai or pressure cooker add little oil and cook all the vegetables till it gets tender ... (picture 4)
then add 3 or 4 cups of water (rice : water - 1:3 ) add salt and allow it to boil well then, add the rice + cooked veges + cooked dhall and when it is almost getting ready , say 3/4 cooked add the grinded masalas and allow it to cook well till the raw smell goes ...if needed u can add more water and salt accordingly ... meanwhile temper all the ingredients given in seperate kadai and fry the onions well and add it to the rice .......and once the rice gets thicker ... transfer it in to the cooker container and pressure cook it for 3 whistles (picture 7) bisibellabath is ready ...serve with raitha / chips ../ vadam .....
